The International Medical Committee (IMC) provides humanitarian medical assistance and supports emergency healthcare initiatives for vulnerable populations affected by disasters, conflicts and humanitarian crises.

IMC’s medical work follows a mission and a vision, both rooted in WOFP’s humanitarian mandate.
Mission
To provide timely and dignified humanitarian medical care to vulnerable populations affected by emergencies, disasters and conflicts, without distinction of origin, belief or circumstance, as an expression of the commitment to peace of the World Organization for Peace (WOFP).
Vision
A world in which no humanitarian crisis is left without a medical response, with health teams able to reach emergency areas with the speed and professionalism that human life demands.
What We Do
IMC’s humanitarian medical work focuses on these situations:
Natural disasters
Emergency medical care in the critical hours following earthquakes, hurricanes and floods.
Conflict zones
Health care for civilians and displaced people affected by armed conflict and instability.
Disease outbreaks
Clinical and health support in response to infectious disease outbreaks.
Community health
Vaccination, maternal and child health, and access to primary care for vulnerable populations.
How We Respond
Assessment
Assessment of health needs in coordination with local authorities and the WOFP network.
Deployment
Mobilization of medical teams, supplies and logistics to the affected area.
Direct care
Medical care for patients and health follow-up for the affected population.
Global Reach
IMC is not organized by region. It relies on international cooperation and on WOFP’s institutional network to take its medical response where it is needed.
Mobilizable medical capacity
Health professionals who can join a response once an emergency is declared.
Emergency logistics
Coordination of medical supplies and transport for work in crisis settings.
Local coordination
Joint work with health authorities and local organizations in each intervention.
WOFP institutional network
Coordination with WOFP’s humanitarian network.
IMC and the World Organization for Peace
IMC is the medical committee of the World Organization for Peace. Both organizations see health care as a direct way of building peace.
One mandate for peace and health
IMC shares WOFP’s ethical principles and institutional network, and its medical work serves the same ends: peace, stability and human dignity.
